Back somewhere in the last century when I was a boy, my parents ran a shop in a village in rural England. They sold clothing and fabric, and for the most part actively avoided technology.
The cash register was a wooden box which opened when you moved a screw to one side. The credit card machine required some carbon paper and a strong arm. Fabrics were hand-measured by the yard and letters were typed on a typewriter. The accounting system was a hard back book.
As I grew up and gained an interest in computers (such as they were in the 80s & early 90s), I made some attempts at my first digital transformation project. A website was created, the rolodex (literal customer 360) was entered into a database on the Atari. Mostly this technology was heartily rejected as untrustworthy and it’s somewhat hard to imagine why that spurred me on to embark on a career in IT.

Well here we are 30 years later. We’ve been through the internet revolution, the mobile revolution the cloud revolution and nearly all got sucked into the blockchain revolution which ended up being more of a frivolous uprising. Now we stare into the next wave of AI and wonder when it will all get easier.
We here to campaign for easier. We believe that this latest technology could actually be the one we have been waiting for.
Right now things are a little bit like the wild west. Even large corporations don’t have a solid plan of how they will harness this new power. Many are still trying to figure out their way into the party. As is usually the case at the beginning, the large consultancies are circling and manifesting credibility.
Never has it been truer that in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king. In the world of AI, they who watched YouTube this morning, are the expert.
So how can you as a small business owner possibly navigate this maze of smoke and mirrors?
Let us help. This site will provide articles, guidelines and real world examples of how you can harness the power of AI to improve your life as a small business owner. This won’t guarantee you riches or empires, but if it allows you an extra few hours each week with the ones you love, or a bit of extra cash in your pocket at the end of the month, then we rate that as a success.
Why would we do this?
This has originated from a place of philanthropy. We seek not fame nor fortune. 🙂 We wish to share our collective experience and knowledge and also to learn something along the way.
Not everything you read will be absolute. Not every opinion a gospel truth. But it comes from a place of honesty and respect and that is hopefully good enough for now.
The Mission and Vision
Having a Mission and a Vision might sound grandiose, but we believe it can apply to the smallest of enterprises and help to act as their guide. We are happy to share ours here:
Mission: To learn, to share and to empower through knowledge
Vision: Small business owners are empowered to take time back out of their working day and sustainably scale their business through the use of the latest technologies and tools.
